The Montgomery County Planning Board is holding a hastily-scheduled worksession on some topics which couldn’t be addressed at the last meeting for lack of time. The Board also decided to revisit the design for the revitalized Rockville Pike: there are two competing visions for the Pike, one by Planning staff, which would put busses, cars and bikes into a shared-use lane at the curb, and one by Glatting-Jackson, an international transportation and walkability consulting firm from Orlando, Florida, which has proposed a design with transit lanes in a wide green median.…

Today I sent a letter to the Montgomery County Planning Board seeking reconsideration of the Board’s rejection of the Glatting-Jackson redesign for Rockville Pike. The Board told us late today that they want to hear from the White Flint Steering Committee on the redesign at tonight’s worksession.
