The Montgomery County Planning Board is holding a hastily-scheduled worksession on some topics which couldn’t be addressed at the last meeting for lack of time. Streaming video should be available at www.montgomerycountyplanning.org. Topics include transportation and school sites. The Board also decided to revisit the design for the revitalized Rockville Pike: there are two competing visions for the Pike, one by Planning staff, which would put busses, cars and bikes into a shared-use lane at the curb, and one by Glatting-Jackson, an international transportation and walkability consulting firm from Orlando, Florida, which has proposed a design with transit lanes in a wide green median.…

Today I sent a letter to the Montgomery County Planning Board seeking reconsideration of the Board’s rejection of the Glatting-Jackson redesign for Rockville Pike. The Board told us late today that they want to hear from the White Flint Steering Committee on the redesign at tonight’s worksession. The worksession will be held in the auditorium in Silver Spring, 8787 Georgia Ave.…
