The White Flint Sector Plan describes the community amenities the Montgomery County Planning Board would like to see in the new White Flint. Among several more mundane amenities (fire and rescue, parks) is the addition of a new section on farmers’ markets. The Planning Board suggested that the County encourage a farmers market within White Flint.
There are already at least three farmers’ markets in the White Flint area: at the Town of Garrett Park railroad station; at the corner of Fernwood and Democracy in Bethesda; and at Tilden Woods Middle School. And there is the historic Bethesda Farm Womens’ Coop in downtown Bethesda.
I have put a photo essay on local farmers’ markets on the Friends of White Flint website, on the White Flint page. To watch the slide show, click the icon in the top middle; to turn off the music, click the speaker icon.
