A deer, flashing golden in the sun, leaped across the road in front of my car as I pulled up to Jean Cryor Park today, and another peered at me from the underbrush, big black eyes alert for danger. A golfer thwocked at a ball on the lush green fields. The large kids’ play area perched quietly in the sun, next to the tree with a bench under it where the late Jean Cryor used to sit and watch her grandchildren play.
Jean Cryor was, among many other achievements, a member of the Planning Board which drafted the White Flint Sector Plan. She passed away last year. http://blog.friendsofwhiteflint.org/2009/11/04/jean-cryor-planner-and-leader-passes-away/.
A week ago, the Planning Board renamed her favorite park, Glen Hills Local Park, 12511 Circle Drive in Rockville, in her name. The Gazette story (she was formerly the publisher of the Gazette) is here.
