As BethesdaNow.com and the Gazette reported, the United States Postal Service sent another letter which serves as final notice that the post office currently located in White Flint Mall is moving, although the final location is still yet to be determined. According to the letter, they plan on providing the same services as the current location (which we were told at the community meeting held by USPS would involve retail services with two counters), and would like to stay as close to their current site as possible and within the same zip code.
The letter acknowledges that some who wrote to the USPS expressed a preference for the post office to remain in the mall, while others expressed concern about parking and convenience. However, the post office will be unable to remain in the mall due to the redevelopment of that property. The post office’s lease is up May 31, 2014, although the letter states that, “the Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing White Flint PO until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.”
