Plans for the Grosvenor-Strathmore Garage

The Montgomery County Planning Department received the first application for development within the  Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Area Minor Master Plan since it was approved and adopted in January 2018. WMATA submitted a Mandatory Referral application requesting to replace their surface parking lot with an expansion to the existing garage. Review the application documents.

The Montgomery County Planning Board will hold a hearing on the Mandatory Referral at their Thursday, July 19, 2018 meeting at the Montgomery County Planning Department (8787 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910).  Please check the Planning Board Agenda (posted July 5, 2018) for the hearing time.

This Mandatory Referral project is the product of a joint development agreement between WMATA and Fivesquares Development for the redevelopment of the property adjacent to the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station. The first phase of redevelopment is to expand the existing parking garage to eventually replace the surface parking lot to free up the land for redevelopment. Subsequent phases will address the larger redevelopment of the site and will undergo substantial regulatory review by the Planning Department and the Planning Board.
