As of July 8, 2020, Executive Boulevard between Old Georgetown Road and Grand Park Avenue at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center is permanently closed; look for the “DETOUR” signs that are rerouting traffic. On Monday, July 13, 2020, Corman Kokosing Construction Company began tearing up the old Executive Boulevard roadway in order to facilitate both new storm drain system construction and the start of work on the extension of Banneker Avenue. …

Below is the MCDOT notification on construction activities anticipated to begin June 15, 2020. The most important news is that Executive Boulevard will be closing around June 29. Yes, this is the third (or fourth?) date given for the closure, but we’re told that this one is going to stick. The second most important news is that nighttime work has been suspended.

Here’s a quick update on the construction of the Western Workaround.

  • Executive Blvd closure end May (delayed by two weeks)
  • VOB demo starts in two weeks
  • Night work continues under a noise mitigation plan, we are addressing a few complaints from residents at Pike and Rose
  • Coordinating installation of temporary signage with FRIT to make them less unsightly

Construction activities anticipated for the next two weeks beginning July 28, 2019 on the Western Workaround/White Flint Project.

The utility infrastructure relocation and construction which began in August 2018 under the previous contract as Phase 1B still awaits completion. This work should finish by end of summer, 2019.PEPCO electrical construction located on the MNCPPC Aquatic Center property north of the Marinelli Road entrance has been completed—the contractor will return once PEPCO has installed a new power pole; the County is waiting on PEPCO’s schedule for pole placement.…
