How to Boost Small Business in Maryland
The recent economic downturn and the resulting drop in governmental revenues has played havoc with state and county budgets for all sorts of things. Since demands for more and more services never take a holiday, local and state officials have looked to economic development to generate more jobs and more revenues. Montgomery County Council President Nancy Floreen created a task force on economic development, and now Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley has followed suit. On June 1, Gov. O’Malley signed an Executive Order creating a new Advisory Council on Small Business. The members of the Advisory Council will be appointed by various elected officials, and no names have been announced yet.
