Remember the big 66″ water main under Tilden Lane that caused a sink hole last year (or worse, the bigger water main of the same age that caused the disaster on River Road the year before)?
WSSC is checking some of the other water mains for similar problems. Here’s one further west on Tilden Lane that’s only 48″.
WSSC is sending a computerized sensor ball, connected to a fiber-optic cable, for thirteen miles from this main on Tilden Lane to the filtration plant on the Potomac River. The process will take seven or eight months.
