The Bicycle Master Plan Outreach Team of the Montgomery County Planning Department asked me to share their schedule for their remaining three meetings about the Montgomery County Master Bike Plan. Learn more about separated bike lanes, bike paths, and how we can knit a network to make it safe and fun for everyone to get around the county on two wheels.
They are updating the master plan now to incorporate bicycle facility types that were not around when they last comprehensively updated the plan in 2005, such as separated bike lanes (aka cycle tracks or protected bike lanes.) Since the planning process will take a little over two years, but we are designing roads in White Flint now, they have been working with MCDOT and Council staff on a concept for a network of separated bike lanes in White Flint that we could advance ahead of the completion of the master plan. (David Anspacher, the project manager for the Bicycle Master Plan, will make a short presentation on the Pike District bike lane network and answer questions at our October 5th board meeting.)
