Disappointed that the headline of the Bethesda Beat article highlighted one controversial comment from one of the panelists, which was part of the ad-hoc Q&A after the presentation. The Panel did a great job providing a vision for creating identity and a sense of place along Rockville Pike. The Panel downplayed the impact of the name, whether it is Pike District or White Flint. There are a multitude of factors that can create a sense of place and the panel was clear that name was not one of them. I hope we can move the conversation along from debating the name to debating how to best create a sense of place. The recommendations in the Panel’s presentation were very interesting and exciting.
