Seventh State is doing a series of posts based on our District One Candidate Forum.  The first blog post focuses on the answers given by the candidates about what they think about Amazon possibly making their second headquarters in the White Flint area. The second blog post concentrates on the increasing levels of county government debt.

Candidates clashed greatly on whether and how to pitch White Flint as Amazon’s future location. This is the second in a series about the issue positions of candidates in District 1 based on the debate hosted by Friends of White Flint. Today’s post looks at whether the candidates are concerned about the share of the county budget going to service debt, which is approaching 20% according to the question. One thing that the Democratic candidates running for the open Bethesda-based District 1 County Council seat didn’t agree on at a forum Thursday night was how to pitch the county to Amazon to attract the company’s second headquarters location.

Seven of the eight Democratic candidates running for the seat appeared at the forum in North Bethesda and two said they wouldn’t roll out the red carpet to welcome the tech giant or its billionaire owner Jeff Bezos.
